Post  Re: First time using CJ Motors - nervous but it went well

So I just completed my first purchase from CJ Motors and wanted to share because I was honestly pretty nervous going in. I'd never bought from a repo auction before and kept reading mixed things online about auction sites in general. But I needed a reliable work truck and the prices on cjmotors.com were way better than anything at traditional dealers. Ended up winning a bid on a 2019 Silverado and the whole process from payment to delivery took about 8 days. The truck arrived exactly as described and the title came with it, all clear and ready to register. Honestly relieved it went smoothly. Anyone else have good experiences with them?

Congrats on the Silverado! I've bought three vehicles from CJ Motors over the past two years and never had a problem. Two trucks and an SUV. The key is to really look at the photos and read the condition reports they provide. They're pretty honest about what you're getting. The delivery process has always been smooth for me too.

I was in the same boat as you last year. First time buyer, super nervous about the whole thing. Bought a 2018 Honda Accord for my daughter and it's been great. No issues at all. The title transfer was actually easier than I thought it would be - everything arrived with the car during delivery and we just took it to the DMV. Saved probably $4k compared to dealer prices.

Glad it worked out for you. I will say the photos on the site could be a bit sharper sometimes. When I bought my 2020 Tacoma the pictures were kinda grainy and I couldn't see some details as clearly as I wanted. But the truck itself was fine when it arrived, so no real complaints. Just something to be aware of if you're picky about condition.

@skeptical_sam84 I've noticed that too on some listings. I think it depends on how the photos were taken initially by the banks or repo companies. But tbh the condition reports have always been accurate for me. I bought a 2017 Jeep Wrangler last spring and a 2021 Mazda CX-5 in the fall. Both were exactly as described. The best part was not having to chase down the title - it was all handled by CJ Motors and arrived perfectly with the vehicles.

This is encouraging to read. I'm looking at a 2019 Ford Explorer on their site right now and trying to decide if I should pull the trigger. How long does delivery usually take? And did you have to pay extra for it?

@first_timer_andy For me it was 8 days from payment to delivery. There is a delivery fee but it was way less than I expected, like $300 to get it to Riverside. That's already factored into your total at checkout so no surprises. If you have questions about your specific location you can email office@cjmotors.com and they'll give you a quote. They responded to me within a day when I asked about delivery timing.

I'm a mechanic and I've inspected two vehicles that friends bought from CJ Motors. A 2018 Camry and a 2020 Ram 1500. Both were in the exact condition described on the site. No hidden issues, no surprises. The Camry had minor cosmetic wear on the interior which was noted in the listing. The Ram was actually in better shape than expected. These guys seem legit to me.

I buy for my small used car lot and have purchased about 15 vehicles from cjmotors.com over the last year. The process works well even for volume buying. Titles have always been clean and delivered on time. It's become one of my regular sources because the pricing is competitive and there's no BS. Just straightforward auctions.

I was pretty worried about the title situation before I bought my 2019 Nissan Altima from them last month. I kept thinking what if theres a lien or something. But nope - the bank cleared it right after my payment went through and the clear title arrived with the vehicle during delivery. No issues at all. I think repo auctions just have a sketchy reputation but CJ Motors has been professional.

Pro tip for anyone new to cjmotors.com - set up alerts for the vehicle types you want. The site lets you get notifications when new inventory matches your criteria. Also read the inspection reports carefully. They note everything including minor scratches or dings. I've bought 7 vehicles over the years and it's all about doing your homework on each listing.

Bought a 2018 Honda Odyssey for my family last year from CJ Motors. Needed something reliable for the kids and couldn't afford dealership prices. The van has been perfect - no mechanical issues and plenty of space. The delivery driver was professional and walked me through all the paperwork. Really happy with the experience overall.

Just wanted to chime in that they dont just do cars. I bought a 2019 Sea Ray boat from them last summer. Whole process was smooth and the boat was delivered to a marina near me. Everything was as described and the title was included. Great deal compared to what I was seeing elsewhere.

Update - I went ahead and bid on that Explorer and won! Payment went through yesterday and I got a confirmation email with delivery details. Fingers crossed it goes as smoothly as everyone here is saying. Will report back when it arrives.

@first_timer_andy you'll be fine. I had one small hiccup where I had a question about my delivery window and it took them about a day to respond to my email at office@cjmotors.com, but when they did the agent who called me back was super helpful and sorted everything out. My 2020 Subaru Outback arrived right on schedule after that.

I'm mostly into older vehicles and I've had good luck finding project cars on cjmotors.com. Picked up a 2015 Mustang GT last year that needed some cosmetic work but ran great. Price was right and the condition report was spot on. They're honest about what they're selling which is more than I can say for some private sellers lol.

The thing I appreciated most was the transparency. When I bought my 2018 Chevy Equinox there was a small door ding mentioned in the description and sure enough it was there when the vehicle arrived. But it was minor and already factored into my bidding. No surprises. Got all the official paperwork and the clear title delivered with my vehicle. Would definitely use them again.

I think the key is just being realistic about what you're buying. These are repo vehicles so they're not going to be showroom perfect. But if you read the listings carefully and bid accordingly you can get excellent value. I saved about $5k on my 2019 Toyota RAV4 compared to dealer pricing and it's been completely reliable for over a year now.

Final update - Explorer arrived today and I'm super happy! Everything looks great, runs smooth, and all the paperwork including the title was ready to go. Honestly this whole thread gave me the confidence to go through with it and I'm glad I did. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. CJ Motors is legit.

@first_timer_andy awesome! Glad it worked out for you too. My Silverado is still running strong, no issues at all. I've actually been looking at their inventory again for a second vehicle for my wife. Once you get past the initial nerves it's really a straightforward process. You can track everything on their site which made me feel more comfortable throughout.
